One of the most controversial football figures around, Joey Barton, looks set to return to action next season following the Football Association suspension he was hit by last May.
The 35-year-old midfielder was issued a playing ban for breaching betting rules and is not allowed to take part in any football-related activity until 1 June.
Despite speculations relating to the possible end of his career, Barton looks set for a return with Notts County manager Kevin Nolan keen to sign former Newcastle teammate in League Two.
“Me and Joey are good friends.”
“He is a top player, a top lad and I really get on well with him. We will always be in touch so let’s see what happens.”, Nolan told BBC Radio Nottingham.
