Newly promoted Newcastle are looking to be in real danger of becoming newly relegated Newcastle, especially with the turmoil created by the change in ownership. The situation has made purchasing players incredibly difficult for manager Rafa Benitez, and he has unsurprisingly turned to loan deals to bolster his squad.
The Magpies currently sit just one point above the drop zone, and their real issues have been in front of goal this season, with just 22 goals scored in 24 league games so far. With that in mind it is clear that it is an attacking player that Newcastle need, and Borussia Dortmund winger Andre Schurrle could be the man to save them, according to the Guardian.
Schurrle has featured just six times in the Bundesliga for Dortmund this season, and is yet to score a goal. In truth the winger has struggled to find any consistent game time since his time at Bayer Leverkusen, and he has gone from Chelsea to Wolfsburg to Dortmund in an attempt to reignite his career.
Newcastle however could hand the 27-year old a lifeline, and an 18-month loan deal is reportedly being readied by the Premier League club, though they could face competition from relegation battle rivals Stoke for the Germany international’s signature.
